Champion Broadstrider Strike It Rich, JC
~ Dino ~
(DC Chelsea Gold Rush of Keynote x Ch. Broadstrider Consuelo)

Dino took me on quite a ride, almost from his first show. He finished with three majors and a few BOBs from the classes. I knew he was special the day I went to see him and he has continued to “wow” me. I look forward to coursing and agility and just hanging out with my boy, Dino.

A Message From the President

Wow, another amazing Annual and, speaking of amazing, the 2003 National Specialty in Crystal Lake, Illinois was a record-breakering 1109 total entries, expertly orchestrated by Chair Bobbi Mason. Breeder-judge Iva Kimmelman added another innovation by orally critiquing her class placements, which was appreciated by exhibitors and spectators alike! After each National, we are anxiously thinking about next year - 2004 finds us in North Carolina and 2005 in Arizona.

It has also been a year of change. In 2003, the membership cast 363 ballots with 1015 votes, re-electing Board Member Dr. Connie Brunkow, and electing new Board Members Russell McFadden and Ed Odron to succeed “retiring” Cora Miller and Jack McManus. Jack also “retired” as Program Director and ASFA Delegate. Dr. Lisa Costello is our new Program Director and, aided by member input, has been redefining the position. Frank Zaworski is our new ASFA delegate. Futurity Chair Jo Meister “retired” after the 2003 Futurity, and the Futurity now rests in Kathy Slater’s capable hands. After many years, ROM Director Barbara Parsons has “retired”, with Donna Lynch assuming the ROM post. Thanks to these individuals for their past and future service to the AWC.

In this, my first year as AWC President, it has been a pleasure to share your ideas and visions. On behalf of your Board, I would like express gratitude to the membership whose dedication, contributions, and talents continue to strengthen the AWC. To quote a former First Lady, “It takes a village” and AWC members truly give life to this statement!

Kokopelli Piper In Paris
(Ch Paris Sirius Tempo x Midsummer’s True Glory)

Glamour Girl & Mama Dog Extraordinaire!

She’s a classic beauty with an awesome pedigree~huge expressive eyes~fabulous long neck ~movement you dream about, but injured & retired at 15 months~ happiest in whelp and loving her precious babies! More elegant than ever, Piper is shown here in all her rose blue glory, still turning heads at 61/2 years of age!

Kokopelli’s Ditch Witch
(Ch Alcyon Runamok Nautilus x Kokopelli Piper in Paris)

Major pointed at 71/2 months, the Divine Doodles is a constant challenge! This live-wire totally defines the word tomboy (digging ditches and careening through life), but wouldn’t she dazzle them in the black velvet & diamonds befitting her blonde bombshell good looks? Hey, I can dream, can’t I?!!

Delacreme Kokopelli Visage
(BISS Ch Poppy Hills My Brave Face, SC x Ch Kokopelli’s Piper Mirage)

This beautiful black brindle angel came back into our lives recently and I couldn’t be happier! Visa reminds us of her famous daddy, Face, who gave her his glorious visage, and her mama - the fabulous PJ - gave Visa her amazing body, soundness and type! Mary Dukes and I co-bred my now major-pointed Visa.

Kokopelli’s Khaos in Kopper
(Ch Alcyon Runamok Nautilus x Kokopelli Piper in Paris)

Beautiful? You bet . . . Big black blazing bad “blow you away” eyes! Unforgettable too?

Oh yeah . . . Krazy kopper kolored kid kreates khaos konstantly, but took a RWB her very first time in the ring at 6 months! Emmy is pictured here at 8 months.

~ and her brother ~

Leaving all impishness to his sister, Gianni is the sweetest lover-boy ever!

He’s handsome with a heart, loves to show and lives to please! I believe in him and his stripes and did I mention rear drive? Gianni is shown at 8 months, too.

Ch Kokopelli’s Piper Mirage
(Ch Wildfire’s Special Effects x Kokopelli’s Piper in Paris)

The fabulous Miss PJ is owned by Mary Dukes and me. In 2002 she produced five beautiful girls sired by SBIS Ch Poppy Hills My Brave Face, SC, FCh, OTR. After much R&R in 2003, PJ’s been bred to Chief (Ch Tivio’s Chiricahua - the amazing Lucia’s brother) and we excitedly await her puppies due in January 2004.

Ch. Kokopelli's Piper Dakota

This handsome man is a rich, dark mahogany brindle who moves like a dream with his terrific rear drive. Kody has an old-fashioned appeal and he’s a sweet and lovingly intense softy who finished in 2003, though he’d have been much happier snuggling his way under the cov

The Lovely Ladies of Sangaree
(ala Kokopelli)

Kokopelli’s Desert
MoonDrop (Lacey)

(Ch Alcyon Runamok Nautilus x Kokopelli Piper in Paris)

My delightful “Leapin’ Lacey” is major-pointed, incredibly sound moving, and a happy-go-lucky party girl in disguise. Now, following in her lovely dam’s pawprints, she produced a most beautiful little girl for me to take to BBE class, where I love to be.

Kokopelli Kookies ‘n Kreme

(by Wildfire’s Elusive Sun, major-pointed)

My gorgeous little redhead is pictured here at 9 months. In her first show, she took a big major RWB. We expect very good things in her future. She’s not the party animal as her mama, she’s much more ladylike. This was my first litter in 5 years, and is my last. So showing Lotte will be very special to me.

Both girls are co-owned with Deb Martino of Kokopelli Whippets. She is Lacey’s breeder and Lotte’s co-breeder. I am very proud to call her my friend and have her beautiful whippets to show and love.
