Multiple SBIS/Select
Ch. Plumcreek Hollowell In Flight

(Ch. Broadstrider’s By George x Hollowell Plumcreek Irene)

During his show career, Briggie won multiple AWC Specialties and Supported Entries, as well as being a Top Twenty dog for two years.

As a producer, we are in his debt.

Thank you, Diane, for having the foresight to breed this great dog. Thank you also to those breeders who have appreciated the qualities of the Plumcreek Hollowell dogs and have sent their lovely bitches to them.

National Select Ch. Plumcreek Come Fly With Me, JC
(Select Ch. Plumcreek Hollowell In Flight x Plumcreek Dance the Dream)

2004 was a very special year at Plumcreek and Hollowell. At the AWC National Specialty, Christopher Robin received a Select Award and won the Stud Dog class. Equally exciting, his young get are being recognized at major shows for their quality and movement.

Our National Specialty Judge, Espen Engh, said it best ~

“Fantastic brindle stallion of a dog . . . Outstanding dog who excelled in everything that is important in a Whippet: type, construction, proportions, and movement from all angles and of extreme quality - just nothing left to coincidence.”

Thank you!

Ch. Plumcreek Fortune Walking On Heir
(Select Ch. Plumcreek Come Fly With Me, JC x Ch. Whippletree’s Walking On Air)

Jay was Winners Dog at the AWC National Specialty. Judge Espen Engh critiques ~

“Most impressive brindle dog with white trim. He impressed me a lot as he combines substance and elegance to perfection, is curvy and Whippety, still strong and masculine and not very big either. He has a near perfect front, excellent layback of shoulder and a model upper arm which is so rare, excellent forechest, deep brisket which creates the ideal starting point for a curvy underline. Beautiful, masculine head... He was a brilliant mover from all angles...”

It is especially meaningful that these judges appreciated Jay’s quality:

Group Winning
Ch. Plumcreek Going Big Time, JC

(Ch. Elysian Pompeii Pastorale, CD, SC x Plumcreek Stars Above)

New Champion...
Romeo finished with a Group 1 at the Chain O’Lakes Kennel Club under judge Lt. Col. Wallace Pede. He followed up this big win with a Best of Opposite Sex during the Midwest Specialty weekend at the Fort Stueben Kennel Club AWC Supported Entry under judge Doug Arthur. THANK YOU! to these judges for recognizing Romeo’s quality, movement and charisma!

Performance Star...
Romeo started lure coursing in 2004. In just a few field trials, he’s almost halfway to his ASFA Field
Championship! Romeo will also be starting obedience and straight line racing in 2005. A truly
versatile dog!

Promising Young Sire...
Romeo’s daughter from his first litter, Plumcreek Fortune Kiss For Luck was Winners Bitch at
the 2004 Midwest Specialty. Romeo’s third litter out of Plumcreek Sent From The Stars is due
in January 2005.

Loyal Companion...
Romeo’s comical and vocal personality keeps us laughing. Always eager to please,
especially at dinner time, we are truly blessed to have him in our lives!

When he’s not sleeping on my pillow or being my shadow, Quinny loves to chase the bunny! He has started obedience and hopefully there will be time in 2005 to pursue his CD! Regardless of his endeavors, Quinny is most happy being a true Whippet companion: loving, loyal, and always getting the most attention from Mom!

Spice completes the Shakespeare Whippet Family. She is the dam of Ch. Plumcreek Going Big Time, JC. Spice prefers to spend her days sleeping, but we were able to drag her off the bed to try straight line racing. She loved it! Our perfect bed warmer and couch cushion, we are looking forward to her second and final litter by Ch. Plumcreek Morshor Walk This Way, JC in 2005.

MBIF DC Hollowell Plumcreek Zephyr, MC, OTR, CRX, LCMII

(Ch. Plumcreek Hollowell In Flight x Hollowell Plumcreek Promenade) DOB 8/7/1997

Zephyr is my very special first whippet. He has accomplished everything I’ve asked him to do and more. He started by finishing his breed championship with 2 specialty majors at a little over 1 year of age. We then hit the field, where he finished his AKC field championship with three 5-point majors. His running career continued and he was ranked Top Ten in both AKC and ASFA in 1998 and 1999. He was a recipient of the Gillette Trophy at the 1999 ASFA II and multiple other running awards, both in lure coursing and on the track.

Zephyr’s first two litters show great promise, with multiple running titles and pointed in the show ring with several majors. Also, several of his sons and daughters made the Top 10 in AKC coursing. It seems he can produce his talents. Look for his kids out in 2005 doing their dad proud.

Friends,

2004 was a busy year for the AWC. The Greensboro National saw another record-breaking event, both in the ring and on the field. The hotel was hospitable, Jack McManus, Yvonne Sovereign and their committees did an extraordinary job, and the flawless operation of the lure trial was truly amazing.

In the 2004 AWC Board of Directors election, the membership cast 363 valid ballots, re-electing Christine Hopperstad and Carolyn Mountan and welcoming David Samuelson. Deciding not to serve another term on the Board, Dr. Lisa Costello has turned her attention to expanded Performance Director duties - watch for her reports in the AWC Whippet News and Annual.

The 2003 Annual arrived, boasting 360 pages, and our Whippet News becomes more vital each year as the AWC communication pipeline. The AWC website (www.americanwhippetclub.net) continues to grow, with breed education seminars and Versatility Award requirements/applications now posted. Finishing touches are being added to a “Whippet Compatibility Test” to appear on the website in 2005. Whippets have become more popular, as evidenced by a Dog Fancy feature; therefore, the AWC has placed a continuing ad in that magazine to offer breed information to the general public. Our Judges’ Education Committee has been diligently developing a “PowerPoint” breed presentation, as well as expanding our breed education. Work is ongoing to update “The Versatile Whippet” pamphlet.

I would like to personally thank each member who has unselfishly volunteered his or her time, skills, and ideas to the AWC, because without you there would be no American Whippet Club.

See you soon,

Lori Nelson
